Painted Prairie Community Garage Sale FAQ

When is the sale?
The Painted Prairie Community Garage Sale is typically held each year in early May.

Painted Prairie Community Garage SaleWhere is the Painted Prairie Community Garage Sale?
Residents throughout Painted Prairie host sales at their homes. A map and list of participating homes will typically be available online a few days before the sale.

Is there a cost to participate?
No. There is no cost to participate in the sale.

I don’t have enough stuff for my own sale. Can I still participate?
Absolutely. You may want to gather your neighbors together and host a group sale at one home.

Where can I put a yard sign?
Generally speaking, you can place a sign on your property, between your home and the sidewalk. Do not place a sign in the tree lawn (the area between the sidewalk and the street), as this is illegal in Aurora.

Will the sale be advertised?
The sale is typically promoted through a variety of channels, which may include online postings, neighborhood communications, and other local advertising.

Should I hold my sale in my alley or in my front yard?
This is largely a matter of personal preference. A sale in your front yard may have more visibility and attract drive-by shoppers. A sale in your garage provides a good place to set everything up in advance and offers some protection in case of bad weather. In either location, it’s a good idea to let nearby neighbors know you’re planning a sale.

What should I do with unsold items after the sale?
Please don’t just leave items at the curb with a "free" sign. If donation options become available, those details can be shared closer to the event.

I want to participate. How do I sign up?
Registration information for the sale is available on the main Painted Prairie Community Garage Sale page.
