From the office of Denver Councilwoman Stacie Gilmore:

The long-anticipated wait for the construction of 56th Ave from Peoria St. to Peña Blvd. is over! Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI), in partnership with Ames Construction, have begun the travel and safety improvements on 56th Ave. between Peoria St. and Peña Blvd. This project will develop more convenient and safer multi-modal access, improve mobility and capacity along the thoroughfare. Crews are currently performing initial site preparations for roadway widening, including establishment of environmental provisions and installing temporary traffic control. Eastbound 56th Avenue traffic will be shifted to the north during night shifts the week of July 11th to open work areas and allow crews to begin roadway removals.
The Project Team hosted a community open house on June 9th to inform attendees about the upcoming construction of the 56th Avenue Travel & Safety Improvements Project. If you were unable to attend the meeting, please visit the project website, to view meeting materials including general project information, phasing plans and renderings of future 56th Avenue.
